Our Story: The Beginning of The Old Parlour Bakes

The Old Parlour Bakes was born during a challenging time — the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

Like many others, we found ourselves out of work when lockdowns began. With so much uncertainty, we started thinking about how we could move forward. That’s when the idea of starting a baking business from home began to take shape. Myself (Michelle) and my sister Sam luckily enjoy spending time together. I’ve always loved baking from a young age and Sam has always loved organising! So we joked that it could work and created a Facebook page !

We started small, baking from home and taking small orders for cakes. Each order would make us smile (and still does ! ). From the very beginning, it was a family effort, with me and my sister working together. What began as a simple lockdown idea soon turned into something more meaningful, driven by hard work and a genuine love of baking. Along the way we’ve roped more family members into bake days by helping with packaging and delivering!

At first, we baked for friends, family, and local customers. As more people tried our bakes, word began to spread and orders increased. This growth allowed us to take the next step — supplying and delivering our bakes to local farm shops.

Working with local farm shops has been an exciting milestone for us and has helped The Old Parlour Bakes become part of the wider community. Over time, the business has continued to grow, and baking has become something we truly enjoy and take pride in.

What started as a way to get through a difficult period has grown into a business we love. We’re excited about the future of The Old Parlour Bakes and look forward to continuing to bake, deliver, and share our products with our customers and local farm shops.

❤️ We are super proud of what we have achieved and love that people love our bakes as much as we do ❤️
